This project started out with a small prototype whereby local artist Marie Moylan was commissioned to interpret the wildlife of Abbeyleix Bog on one of our many utility boxes. The original idea was to strengthen the physical connection between the bog and the town and simply also to point people where to do.

The response to our original “protype” was extremely positive and this gave us confidence to go for a wider rollout of similarly themed art on our bins and also other utility boxes. This eye-catching project has had a lot of favourable response and we have been contacted by countless other groups were in touch to ask how and who etc. about our project and we are delighted to see that it has been replicated in a number of other communities.
