Sustainable Communities Plan for Abbeyleix. Public Workshop: Wed 9th March in Heritage House

Laois County Council has engaged Loci consultants to prepare a Sustainable Communities Plan for Abbeyleix. The overall aim of the plan is to build on the positive aspects of the town’s natural setting and topography, its links to the wider landscape and environs, its natural and built heritage and its diversity and mixes of uses, in order to make it a more attractive place to live, work and visit.

The plan will address issues and opportunities and will present a vision and strategy that will be informed by the consultation process.

Preliminary work is underway and your input is needed to make this initiative work.

An upcoming public workshop will give you th opportunity to have your say and you are being invited to submit thoughts on the following questions

· What do you see as the positive and negative aspects of the the streets and spaces around the tows?

· What would you suggest should be done to improve on the positive aspects and to address the negative aspects of these streets and spaces?

· What do you think should be done to make Abbeyleix a more sustainable place?

The public workshop will be held on:

Wednesday 9th March 2011, in Heritage House, Abbeyleix, 7:30 to 09:30pm
