Abbeyleix Tidy Town Receives Support from Heritage Council for Abbeyleix Fountain Restoration Project
Abbeyleix Tidy Town is pleased to announce that it has received support from the Heritage Council for the much-anticipated Condition Assessment and Restoration Plan for Abbeyleix Fountains. This crucial project aims to preserve and restore the historical significance of the Abbeyleix Fountains, ensuring their long-lasting heritage value for generations to come.
With the generous support of the Heritage Council, Abbeyleix Tidy Town has enlisted the expertise of Richard McLoughlin and his esteemed team at Lotts Architecture and Urbanism to undertake the restoration project. Renowned for their extensive experience in architectural conservation and urban planning, Lotts Architecture and Urbanism bring a wealth of knowledge to this important endeavour.
The first phase of the project involved conducting a comprehensive Condition Assessment, meticulously examining the existing state of the Abbeyleix Fountains. This assessment, accompanied by a detailed conservation report, photographic survey, and drawings, has provided valuable insights into the current condition of these cherished heritage features.
Richard McLoughlin, the project lead from Lotts Architecture and Urbanism, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are honoured to have been appointed to deliver this restoration project. The Abbeyleix Fountains hold significant historical and cultural importance, and we are committed to preserving their unique heritage value while ensuring their future sustainability."
Abbeyleix Tidy Town intends to utilize the comprehensive conservation report as a blueprint for the restoration efforts, ensuring that the project adheres to best practices in conservation and heritage preservation. The report will serve as a guiding document, informing every step of the restoration process to ensure the authenticity and historical accuracy of the project.
Abbeyleix Tidy Town would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Heritage Council for their generous funding and support, which has made this project possible. The Heritage Council's commitment to preserving Ireland's cultural heritage is commendable, and their contribution to the Abbeyleix Fountain Restoration Project is greatly appreciated.
Additionally, Abbeyleix Tidy Town wishes to express its appreciation to Catherine Casey and Viscount Tom de Vesci for their invaluable support throughout the planning stages of this project. Their dedication and advocacy for heritage preservation have been instrumental in bringing this ambitious restoration project to fruition.
As the restoration progresses, Abbeyleix Tidy Town will provide regular updates to the community, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed about the project's developments. The organization invites everyone to join in this exciting endeavour and celebrate the rich heritage of Abbeyleix.
